WHEATHER: is tropical, but there are large variations in temperature and rain depending on the distance from the coast and altitude.

HISTORY: Despite having given name to the modern state, the ancient kingdom of Ghana covered the Sahelian region of Senegal, Mauritania and Mali. The oldest known state in what is now Ghanawere the kingdoms mampursi dogomba and in the north, which flourished in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. At this time Akanethnic groups (including the Ashanti and Fanti) migrated from the savanna and settled further south, forming a series of small states.Early in the fifteenth century these communities conducted a brisk trade with the northern sub-Saharan peoples.
